Problems in the Community Roberta Young, CPA
President, De Meo, Young, McGrath

I still have to think before I say Senior Volunteer Services . . . it seems strange not to say Broward Grandparents – our name for most of our 40+ years. Yet, somehow, the new name seems more fitting.

So what is this entity called Senior Volunteer Services? It is so many things, I can hardly begin to tell you. We are the premier organization in Broward County, Florida for seniors. Whether you are a volunteer in the Foster Grandparent Program, the Senior Companion Program, the RSVP Program or the Executive Services Corps of Broward County Program, you are an important element of the whole organization. It is wonderful to have one place where seniors can volunteer and where they can come for vital information to enable them to live a more productive and healthy life.

As a businessperson myself, I appreciate that this organization is run smoothly and efficiently. Our financial situation is sound, with contributions and grants from major government and foundation support. With the celebration of our 40th anniversary, I am proud of the stewardship provided by the founders of the organization and the Board of Directors that has carried it forward all of these years.

The volunteers are the focus of our organization, they help us solve problems in the community. We provide them with opportunities to share their life experiences with others in need, and, in the process, they are themselves enriched.

Letter from the Executive Director

Problems in the Community John R. Gargotta
Executive Director

Senior Volunteer Services is the premier organization for older adults who want to remain active, healthy, and involved in their communities by contributing time to improve the lives of others and helpig us solve community problems. We have a wealth of knowledge in developing exciting, meaningful volunteer opportunities that impact both the volunteer and the person or organization they serve.

Our diverse programs make a double impact in the community because the volunteers feel a sense of accomplishment and the clients receive a service to improve their quality of life. All of our programs are provided through the wisdom and experience of our older volunteers.

Please join us in celebrating over 40 years of volunteer service to Broward County by volunteering in one of our programs, joining our Advisory Council or assisting through financial support. Your service is needed, and you will find joy in helping our community.

Please contact us today for more information about how you can become a volunteer and help us solve problems in our community.
